Here is my honest guide to the best transportation options, depending on your budget and destination.
Option 1: AREX (Airport Railroad Express)
“The fastest and most punctual way to reach the city center.”
- The Express Train: Non-stop from ICN to Seoul Station. Takes about 43-51 minutes.
- The All-stop Train: Stops at 14 stations (like Hongdae). Cheaper, but takes about 60 minutes.
- Pro Tip: If your hotel is near Seoul Station or Hongdae, the train is your best friend. It’s punctual and avoids Seoul’s infamous traffic.
Option 2: Airport Limousine Bus
“The local favorite for a comfortable and scenic ride without the stairs.”
- Why locals love it: You don’t have to carry your heavy luggage up and down subway stairs. You can just sit back in a comfortable, reclining seat and enjoy the view.
- Best for: People staying in areas like Gangnam, Myeongdong, or Jamsil.
- How to use: Look for the ticket booths outside the arrival hall. Check your bus number based on your destination.
Option 3: Taxi (Regular, International, and Jumbo)
“The best choice for families or those traveling with heavy luggage.”
- Regular Taxi: Good for up to 3 people.
- International Taxi: Drivers speak English, and you can pre-book.
- Jumbo Taxi: Best for large families or groups with 5+ suitcases.
- Savvy Note: Beware of illegal taxis! Always go to the official taxi stand and ensure the driver uses the meter. Expect to pay between 60,000 to 90,000 KRW to central Seou
Option 4: Private Transfer Service
